Justine McIntosh is a Psychotherapist who graduated from her Masters program In Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She obtained her B.A with a major in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology from Saint Mary’s University.

Justine grew up in East. St Paul, Manitoba where she has spent her entire life helping individuals in many different ways. From coaching hockey to being a support worker for elderly people, she has always had such a passion for working with others. Throughout her life, she has leaned on a Therapist and was able to recognize how important therapy is for an individual. Justine always knew she wanted to find a career that involved helping others but it was not until she was a student-athlete that she found out that becoming a therapist was a perfect fit.

Justine uses a very client-focused approach while in session. This means that she focuses on the client as a whole and not just a particular problem. Throughout the sessions, Justine regularly uses Narrative therapy and Brief-Solution Focused Therapy.

Narrative Therapy is a method that allows the client to look at their life as a book. Each event or situation that occurs in their life is a chapter in their book. Whether the chapter is positive or negative, there are always new chapters to occur in the future.

Brief- Solution Focused Therapy lets the client and Justine problem-solve goals and tools together that may benefit their life and help them overcome the obstacle that is currently affecting them. This kind of therapy lets the client set many short-term goals that can be regularly adjusted and effectively worked towards.

Justine has a passion for working with clients who are experiencing difficulty with navigating life changes, life identification issues and everyday disorders that may be effecting their lives. Being an athlete her entire life, Justine has a strong interest in working with athletes and all the challenges that may arise within that career.

Justine cannot put into words how excited she is to start this journey with you. She knows it may be nerve-wracking to take those first steps, but she will work diligently to develop a trusting relationship with you to help guide you through the goals you are wanting to pursue moving forward. Justine will be with you every step of the way and looks forward to learning and growing with you throughout your time together.
